Here are five bold predictions for the Steelers vs the Browns in week 18

It will be a short turnaround for both the Steelers and Browns as the teams prepare for a rematch this week in the playoffs. While the Browns have had their issues with the COVID list this week, this is still a playoff game and needs to be seen as such. That said, the Steelers starters should be well-rested and ready to play.

In a game that is likely to be close, here are five bold predictions for the Steelers vs the Browns in the wildcard round.

The sluggish offense returns

While the Steelers offense looked like it was back on track in the second half against the Colts and then played well despite the backups being in the week following, this game seems like one where Randy Fichtner’s game plan could reemerge. Don’t be surprised to see the Steelers come out in their conservative, uninspiring, and predictable short passing game this week. The team could be looking ahead due to the COVID issues the Browns are struggling through and want a quick, easy, and healthy victory.

Unfortunately, the short passing strategy the Steelers relied on during their losing streak doesn’t accomplish that. Assuming they start the game as they have in those struggling weeks, the Browns will likely limit the Steelers’ offense and take an early lead. Thus, it will be up to the second half and an offense that attacks the defense in a variety of ways to win. This game is close, but the primary reason for this is because of how bad the Steelers look in the first half.
