Jesse James, Tight end

This one has been rumored even before his release from the Detroit Lions but it just makes too much sense for it not to happen. Jesse James is from Pittsburgh and was drafted here before signing a lucrative contract with the Lions in free agency a couple of seasons ago. After his release, it seems like he should return back to the Steelers on a veteran minimum deal for this upcoming season. This will be a nice move as Vance McDonald retired and Eric Ebron is the only stable player at the position currently. James provides a more all-around game whereas Ebron can only be a big target in the passing game.

James would be a great addition to that tight end group that would start to fill out. A combination of James and Ebron would take away another desperate need at this position as the draft gets closer and closer. This signing just seems like it’s a matter of when not if. The need is there for the team and the player would surely like to return back to his childhood team as he tries to re-find his game after not working out with the Lions. The black and yellow need bargains and James would surely be that for a team needing tight ends before the season begins.

These three names will be interesting ones to watch as free agency continues to play out across the league. The Steelers will need very cheap options to make any kind of moves during the free agency period.
