Steelers odds to win Super Bowl: Pittsburgh in the bottom half of the NFL
By Tommy Jaggi
Oddsmakers aren’t very threatened by the Steelers. Here’s why they have Pittsburgh in the bottom half of the league in Super Bowl odds.
Oddsmakers apparently aren’t putting much stock into Pittsburgh’s win in the Hall of Fame Game over the Dallas Cowboys (as if they actually would). But despite the return of a healthy Ben Roethlisberger and a Steelers team that did everything in their power to keep a championship-level roster for the 2021 season, their Super Bowl odds are not very good at all.
This could be largely due to the fact that professional oddsmakers have a hard time believing that a 39-year-old Ben Roethlisberger can go toe-to-toe with some of the elite, young talents at quarterback in the AFC this year. Here’s a quick overview of Pittsburgh’s odds this year, courtesy of WynnBET.
Steelers Super Bowl Odds
The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl as we approach their second preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. That’s… not good. This currently has them tied as just the 18th most likely team to win the Super Bowl this year – placing them in the bottom half of the NFL.
To put this into comparison, the Kansas City Chiefs currently lead the pack at +500 odds, followed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +700. Tied with the Steelers at +4000 odds are the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings. Pittsburgh currently has lower odds than teams like the Patriots, Chargers, and Titans.
Steelers Division Odds
If you have been following along this offseason, then you probably aren’t surprised to learn that the Steelers merely have the 3rd-best odds of winning the AFC North in 2021 at +350. To no surprise, the two teams ahead of them are the Baltimore Ravens (+115) and the Cleveland Browns (+135). Cincinnati remains a distant 4th at +2250.
Steelers Playoff Odds
The Steelers are currently on the outside looking in when it comes to playoff odds this year. WynnBET currently has them at +150 to make the playoffs. While this is well within the realm of possibility, they are currently at -180 odds to miss the tournament altogether.
Steelers Win Total Odds
Despite the fact that this team started with a franchise-best 11-0 record in 2020, Pittsburgh’s most likely win total this season is just 8 this year, according to WynnBET. Pittsburgh is +400 to earn exactly 8 wins this year, followed by +500 to earn 9 wins in 2021.
To earn the same 12-win record the team had last year, the WynnBET has +1500 odds on the chances of this happening (and that is with an additional regular-season game added to the schedule). Odds suggest the Steelers are also just as likely to earn 0-2 wins as they are to earn 14 wins this year (+5000).
