OG Malcolm Pridgeon

One position a long shot player could have found themselves on the roster would have been at offensive guard. The Steelers lost Matt Feiler and Maurkice Pouncey along the interior offensive line this offseason and didn’t do much in the way of replacing them outside of drafting center Kendrick Green in the third round.

Malcolm Pridgeon is a tall, long offensive guard listed at 6’7” and 310 pounds. He was undrafted in 2019 who was initially signed by the Houston Texans before a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns. Because the Steelers typically only keep one or two backup interior offensive linemen, Pridgeon’s chances were very slim and he didn’t do enough in training camp to show that he belongs.

EDGE Jamar Watson

Like most defensive players at Steelers training camp in 2021, Jamar Watson flashed at times this summer, but he was greatly overshadowed by other players at his position. To make the Steelers as an undrafted outside linebacker is not easy to do – especially when Pittsburgh typically invests so much into this position.

The Steelers have three roster locks at edge defender in T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, and Melvin Ingram. Outside of them, Cassius Marsh may be the frontrunner for the fourth spot while Jamir Jones has been electric and Quincy Roche has flashed as Pittsburgh’s 6th round pick. Unless the team wants the added OLB depth in the final preseason game, Watson could be gone on the 24th.
