The Pittsburgh Steelers will need to make their final roster cuts soon. Here are three players they must make room for on the final 53 in 2021.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will soon have some incredibly difficult decisions to make as they will be asked to cut down to just 53 players on their roster. While many of these decisions will be unanimous with the coaching staff and front office, others will be much harder to narrow down, and there is sure to be some deep discussion and cases to be made behind the scenes.

Though I clearly have no say in what Pittsburgh ultimately decides, I have been studying the team closely this offseason, and there are three players I feel like the Steelers need to make room for on their 53-man roster this year:

DT Carlos Davis

Carlos Davis has turned heads this summer and it looks like he’s really starting to get things figured out. During OL vs DL drills at Steelers training camp, Davis was a menace, thanks to his lightning-quick first step exposition for a player his size.

At 6’2” and 313 pounds, Davis has good upside as a penetrating defensive tackle who could offer work as a pass rush specialist due to his impressive athletic traits. During the preseason, he has been able to make his presence felt in the backfield on several occasions.

Unfortunately, the Steelers will have to decide if there is room for him, as it seems unlikely that both he and Isaiah Buggs can make the roster this year. Personally, I think Davis has a higher upside of the two and has had a very strong summer. He should stick around on the 53.
