The Pittsburgh Steelers have to cut their roster down to just 53 players by August 31st. Here’s who I believe will make the final cut in 2021.

With August coming to an end, so marks cutdown day in the NFL. For many hopeful players, the journey ends here, while sixteen players who are released could potentially find themselves on their team’s practice squad this year.

Apart from DB Antoine Brooks (who was able to rejoin the team on IR), the Pittsburgh Steelers have not made any surprising cuts to this point. However, that could change very soon. All teams will be asked to cut their rosters down to just 53 players on August 31st. Here are my final roster predictions for the Steelers:

Quarterback (3): Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins

This has been the projection all along for most, and it looks like it could hold true after cutdowns – especially with Josh Dobbs suffering an injury in the second half of the preseason finale. Ben Roethlisberger will lead this offense in 2021 with Mason Rudolph backing him up.

While many had hoped that Dwayne Haskins would have shown enough to unseat Rudolph on the depth chart, the Steelers didn’t see it that way, and he certainly didn’t help his cause with an embarrassing showing in his final preseason game against the Panthers.

Though I could make a case for Dobbs being the player holding the clipboard and getting Big Ben prepared for the game, that will likely be Haskins’ job this year. These will likely be your three Pittsburgh quarterbacks for the 2021 season.
