The NFL cutdown deadline is just around the corner. Here are the players who have been released from the Pittsburgh Steelers so far.

We are so close to NFL teams making their final cuts that we can start counting by hours. By 4:00 P.M. Eastern Time on August 31st, all NFL teams will be forced to have their rosters cut down to just 53 players.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are no exception to this. Recently, they released nine more players in another wave of cuts – bring their roster down to 70 players currently. There are still plenty of names that will have to go very soon, but here are the players who have been released as of Monday afternoon, according to the Steelers official Twitter account:

Steelers who have officially been released

  • WR Isaiah McKoy
  • OT Brandon Walton
  • K Sam Sloman
  • DT Abdullah Anderson
  • CB Stephen Denmark
  • LB Calvin Bundage
  • OL Aviante Collins
  • RB Pete Guerriero
  • WR Tyler Simmons
  • TE Marcus Baugh
  • RB Tony Brooks-James
  • CB Shakur Brown
  • DT T.J. Carter
  • WR Anthony Johnson
  • CB Lafeyette Pits
  • OG Malcolm Pridgeon
  • WR Matthew Sexton
  • S Lamont Wade
  • LB Jamar Watson
  • WR Rico Bussey
  • LS Kameron Canaday
  • P Jordan Berry

Steelers waived/injured

  • DL Calvin Taylor
  • Demarcus Christmas
  • TE Dax Raymond
  • CB Demarcus Acy
  • Anthony Coyle
  • S Antoine Brooks Jr.

For so many players, the journey ends here. For others, they will get another opportunity to test their skills again at Steelers training camp in 2022. For those fortunate enough to land on the 16-man practice squad, a select few could be called up to the active roster in the event of injuries this season.

Antoine Brooks was easily the most notable cut the team was forced to make this season for injury purposes. Brooks was placed on the waived/injured list before clearing waivers and landing on IR with the Steelers. When he returns from injury, he will likely get a shot at a roster spot.

Some of the other notable names who missed the mark for the Steelers this summer include CB Shakur Brown, WR Anthony Johnson, and WR Matthew Sexton. These three players all flashed at times during training camp and the preseason, but there just wasn’t room for them on the roster this year.

The rest of the roster moves will be coming quickly so stay tuned! With 70 players on the roster as of now, the Pittsburgh Steelers still need to make 17 cuts before 4:00 P.M. on August 31st.
