The Pittsburgh Steelers must finish making their final cuts soon, but here are three positions they could already be eyeing from other teams’ roster cuts.

In just a matter of hours, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have their 2021 roster all figured out… or so we think. Though all teams are forced to cut their rosters down to just 53 players by 4:00 P.M. Eastern Time on August 31st, that doesn’t mean Kevin Colbert and his crew are going to be done making moves.

We have seen the Steelers be very aggressive over the past few months by pursuing former Pro Bowl players like Melvin Ingram and Trai Turner in free agency, and trading for a former Pro Bowl linebacker to insert into the starting lineup in Joe Schobert.

Something tells me they aren’t quite done yet, and they probably won’t want to leave a few positions up to chance in 2021. Here are three positions Pittsburgh will likely look to bolster after final roster cuts have been made:

Steelers nickel cornerback

After the way things have worked out of them this summer, Pittsburgh is probably wishing they would have made a better effort to retain Mike Hilton early in free agency. However, the past is in the past and the Steelers are looking for an answer in the present.

They won’t find it in Antoine Brooks this year. Initially listed as the team’s starting nickel cornerback, Brooks landed on Injured Reserve. Arthur Maulet doesn’t seem to be a reliable option either. Though the veteran has starting experience, he has been rather unspectacular throughout his career, and that mediocre play continued this summer in Pittsburgh.

Moving Cameron Sutton to the cover the slot during nickel packages seems like the easy move, but the team would love to have another player who can kick inside and play both nickel and dime. Don’t be surprised if they scout the waiver wire for a defensive back who could potentially do this for them in 2021.
