Steelers TE Eric Ebron

Contract: 2-years, $12 million

Eric Ebron hasn’t been the worst use of money, but it certainly looks like the Steelers are overpaying this year – especially considered that Ebron has already taken a backseat to rookie tight end, Pat Freiermuth.

Pittsburgh signed Ebron to a 2-year,  $12 million deal last offseason. In 2020, Ebron proved to be adequate, yet unreliable as a receiver while proving yet again to be one of the worst blocking tight ends in the National Football League.

In an effort to lower his cap number in 2021, the Steelers restricted Ebron’s contract and added voidable years to his deal. Sadly, Pittsburgh will be paying close to $4 million against the cap next year when Ebron isn’t even on the roster, according to Over the Cap.

Ebron hasn’t come close to earning his money’s worth with the Steelers and considering that it looks like he’s only going to earn twenty-some snaps per game this year, he’s hardly worth rostering at this price – especially with a better tight end on the team.
