Steelers’ defense needs to play better
I think I can safely assume that after week 1 most fans felt good about the offense and defense, now none of that can be said. The Steelers defense has allowed 24+ points in the last 3 games and forced 2 turnovers during those 3 games.
Pittsburgh prided themselves on turnovers last year and had a total of 27 takeaways, this year only harvesting 3. Another thing the Steelers defense has not done since Buffalo is being consistent, the defense often plays well late in the game when it is out of hand and too late to mount a comeback. The absence of Stephon Tuitt has a part in the lack of success the defense has had and he probably won’t be on the field for a little while longer.
The defense misses big plays and has their tackling attempts denied more frequently this year than in the last few years, the lack of big plays is thinning out. The pressure on opposing quarterbacks has died down and then the secondary gets torched either by a quarterback or wide receiver. The pieces are there but they have just stopped producing it seems like from observation, I’m not saying they’ve stopped trying but it seems like they have hit a roadblock, hopefully, they can figure it out.
