Pat Freiermuth was a monster vs Bears

Now that we got some of the controversial stuff out of the way, let’s shift our focus to something positive. It would have been impossible to watch this Monday Night Football contest and not notice Steelers tight end, Pat Freiermuth.

The rookie tight end was targeted just six times in this game, but it was able to haul in all five catchable targets for 43 yards and 2 touchdowns, via ESPN. On the first of his touchdowns, Freiermuth did an excellent job bailing on his route after the play broke down and finding a soft spot in the defense for Ben to get him the ball in the end zone.

Freirmuth’s second touchdown was the catch of the night. Despite a clear pass interference in which the Bears defender clinched onto Freiermuth’s chest plate throughout the play, the Steelers tight end was able to fight over the top of him to reel in the ball with ease for the touchdown reception.

Freiermuth is quickly becoming a rookie sensation, and there’s beginning to be a real debate as to which Steelers rookie will be the most valuable to this football team moving forward. As both a receiver and blocker in space, Freiermuth has done everything this team could have possibly asked of him, and he has an excellent NFL career ahead of him.
