Steelers Witherspoon continues his strong play

One of the biggest surprises for the Steelers over the past few weeks has been the solid play of Ahkello Witherspoon. After having a brutally bad start to the season where he couldn’t earn a helmet and when he did, he was being burned, he finally earned a helmet. The past two weeks have been extremely strong for the veteran, and he is finally providing the team some value from the trade they made for him.

He had a few key pass breakups against the Ravens and then topped that off with a pair of interceptions last week. Quite frankly, the team hasn’t had that good of cornerback play yet this season, and there is now a chance that Witherspoon is going to earn a deal past this season. At the very least, his solid play should continue through this week.

Considering just how injured the Titans receiving corpses is and how mistake-prone Ryan Tannehill has been this season, I think Witherspoon has another solid game. A pair of pass breakups and another interception seem like a real possibility. If Witherspoon puts together another strong game, he has to be seen as a long-term answer in this secondary.
