Steelers must improve at Quarterback

The position everyone has been talking about: what do the Steelers do at quarterback in 2022? More than likely, Ben Roethlisberger will retire, meaning the team will be on the hunt for a new starter. Losing Roethlisberger will be a blow, but he has clearly been limited this season under center given his age. Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins could be options, but both have been lackluster to this point in their careers.

Long-term, the draft is the best way for the Steelers to replace their franchise quarterback. Unfortunately, the 2022 class is less than stellar with their options. Many are hoping for Kenny Pickett, but he has flashed some issues, mainly his arm strength, that makes him a less desirable candidate. On top of all of this, a rookie would be placed behind a struggling line, and the team themselves have expressed the desire to have a veteran quarterback play in 2022.

There should be some great free-agent options as opposed to what has been available in recent years. From top-of-the-line names like Jameis Winston to bottom tier such as Mitchell Trubisky, the team should have the pick of the litter of who they want to lead their team. The most obvious name, to me at least, has been Marcus Mariota, as he provides the team with everything they want moving forward. No matter who gets the nod though, the team has to field some more dynamic quarterback play in 2022.

The Steelers will need to make some strides in 2022, as the team has fallen off in recent years and needs to get back on track. Adding some new and improved talent is a good start, as the team could use a refresh at a few positions. These four positions in particular could use a boost for the 2022 offseason.
