5 potential landing spots for Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster in 2022
By Tommy Jaggi
JuJu Smith-Schuster is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2022. Here are five potential landings spots for the Steelers receiver this offseason.
Things did not go according to plan for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster this season. After a down year in 2020, the former Pro Bowler was hoping to bounce back with a big statistical campaign on a one-year ‘prove-it’ deal. However, JuJu landed on IR with a shoulder injury just five games into the 2021 season.
Prior to his injury, Smith-Schuster was on the pace for a lackluster season. Still just 25 years old with a bright future ahead of him, JuJu is an unrestricted free agent and will seek a new contract this offseason. Here are five potential landing spots that could help him revive his NFL career:
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles don’t have an extraordinary amount of cap space entering the 2022 offseason, but there are moves they could make to free up salary cap this offseason. Though the Eagles did just spend their first-round pick on a talented wide receiver in DeVonta Smith, their wide receiver room is still lacking.
While Quez Watkins had a pretty good season in Philly, Jalen Reagor has been a big disappointment thus far. In addition, the Eagles have a young quarterback at the helm, and I wouldn’t rule them out taking a QB with one of their three first-round picks this year.
Whether it’s Jalen Hurts at the helm or a rookie quarterback, the Eagles could use a reliable young receiver like JuJu Smith-Schuster. This is a potential landing spot that makes a lot of sense for Philadelphia.
