Pittsburgh Steelers
There are a lot of unknowns in Pittsburgh right now. Ben Roethlisberger has already played his final regular-season game with the team, and we really don’t know at this point who will be at the helm for the Steelers next season. However, JuJu already has a great connection with the fans in Pittsburgh, and with $42 million in cap space, the Steelers could pay to keep him around long-term.
If he does decide to stick around, Smith-Schuster would work on becoming best friends with whoever the next quarterback will be in Pittsburgh, but he will split the workload with Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool.
The lots of cap space and not a lot of great talent to retain, getting an extension done with Smith-Schuster could be at the top of Pittsburgh’s to-do list this offseason. Perhaps they believe he will return to his 2018 Pro Bowl form with the next quarterback, and Pittsburgh doesn’t like to give up on players they purchased with quality draft capital.
