During the Steelers offseason, you can, in a literal sense, help make Steelers history, too, and in the process, you could win a trip to Pittsburgh as well.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened nominations for the 2022 Hall of Honor Class if you were not aware. Each member has prominent placement on the wall behind the Heinz Field endzone. Undoubtedly if you have ever watched a televised game or been to the stadium, you have seen it.

Are there any Steelers you have ever felt should have been recognized for their career and have not? Now you have an opportunity to nominate your favorite Steelers player for the recognition they deserve while potentially winning cool prizes in the process.

By merely submitting three names, you could win round trip airfare for you and a guest to Pittsburgh, tickets to the Hall of Honor induction ceremony, and two tickets to the Hall of Honor Game played that weekend. However, that’s not all. You get two nights to stay at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh and the best perk of all a $1000 gift card for the pro gift shop. Honestly, that’s worth the entry alone.

There are dozens of great Steelers players who have never made it to the NFL Hall of Fame. Yet those who can not get the NFL’s highest award may still deserve recognition in the Hall of Honor. The only qualifications are they have to have been retired for at least three seasons, played with Pittsburgh for at least three seasons, and possess noteworthy career highlights, records, and achievements. You can win all of that by just submitting the names of up to three retired players.

Ok, well, unfortunately, you can not nominate Flozell Adams; he only played in Pittsburgh for one season or David Trout, the placekicker whose career lasted 18 games. However, here are a few greats who do meet the qualifications and are not in the Hall of Honor yet, like Roy Gerela, Steelers placekicker from 1969-1978.

Heath Miller tight end who played from 2005-to 2015. How about Frenchy Fuqua? If anyone deserves to induction into the Hall of Honor, it’s Frenchy, the most outspoken, colorful player to land in Pittsburgh. Then you have the hero of Superbowl X, Reggie Harrison. He blocked a Dallas punt in the Superbowl, scoring a safety helping knock off Dallas for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. So who is your former favorite Steelers player not yet inducted into the Hall of Honor?

Just visit the Steelers home page, where you can get all the details of the contest Pittsburgh is offering, submit the names of your favorite player or former coach, and perhaps you might have a chance to go see a Steelers game in person in 2022 and get that gift card to buy a $1000 of Steelers gear!
