Steelers must target Skyy Moore

It’s not hard to see why the Steelers might be interested in selecting a player like Skyy Moore on day two. Moore is shifty, fast, and physical, and his production in 2021 was phenomenal (95 catches, 1,292 yards, 10 touchdowns).

Moore also comes from the MAC conference and played his college ball at Western Michigan — an area Mike Tomlin is very familiar with. The downfall with Moore is that he does not possess the size that many of the other receivers have in this class. At the NFL Combine, he measured in at just 5’9 5/8”.

This might be too short to consistently thrive outside the hashes. Fortunately for the Steelers, they could use a dynamic slot option that can both win underneath and stretch the field down the seam. Though he is short, Moore has a thick frame (195 pounds) and massive 10 1/4” mitts.

Moore would give the Steelers a reliable pass-catcher over the middle of the field that can create much more separation than we saw with JuJu Smith-Schuster or Ray-Ray McCloud from the slot. Pittsburgh would probably have to take him in the second round if they are really interested.

With the severe lack of depth at wide receiver on their current roster, Pittsburgh can ill afford to wait until day three of the NFL draft to address this need. Pickens, Pierce, and Moore would all be excellent additions that could help this offense get back on track.
