I’m very intrigued that the Steelers have shown some interest in LSU cornerback, Derek Stingley Jr. As mentioned earlier, Pittsburgh obviously doesn’t have a very good track record when it comes to drafting cornerbacks, but I really believe that Stingley would change that narrative.

Over the past two seasons, Stingley has played through multiple injuries and his tape suffered a bit as a result. However, when you go back to the last time he was truly healthy as a freshman, he was considered to be one of the best cornerback prospects we have ever seen.

If not for the injuries, I’m confident that Stingley wouldn’t get outside of the top ten picks. However, it’s because of this that he could potentially see his name slide a bit on draft day.

The Steelers are never in a position to draft cornerbacks who are as good of prospects as Stingley, but there’s a chance that could change this year. If Stingley were still on the board, this would be an easy choice if I were making the call. For my money, he’s the second-best player they have shown interest in during the pre-draft process.
