Steelers defensive lineman Chris Wormley

The Steeler’s trade for Chris Wormley was very interesting. The fact that they were able to see his true potential as a defensive tackle despite the unproductive seasons in Baltimore was incredible.

After a slow first season in Pittsburgh, Wormley stepped up and made an impact in his second year with the team. In 2021, Wormley recorded 7 sacks and 10 QB hits. The Steeler defense is good at applying pressure on the QB and Wormley fits well into that scheme.

The coolest part of Wormley’s story is his efforts against his former team. In the final stretch of last season, the Steelers and Ravens met twice. In those two games, Wormley recorded 3.5 sacks and 6 solo tackles. It seemed as though he was playing with a chip on his shoulder, which is the kind of energy the Steelers needed in the final stretch.

Wormley showed up in a big way for his team in 2021. On a defensive line with men like Cam Heyward, Tyson Alualu, and Stephon Tuitt it can be hard to stand out. But when Wormley got his opportunity he made the most of it.
