Predicting the Pittsburgh Steelers final 53-man roster for the 2022 Season
Barring any last-minute additions, it appears the Steelers have the players they want heading into training camp between the draft and undrafted rookies.
Whether the Steelers added the rookies you wanted them to add or not, it appears the Steelers roster headed into training camp may be final; now, the question headed forward is who gets cut and who makes the final 53-man roster.
There are the players you know who are a lock for a roster spot like T.J. Watt. Then there are those players whose outlook for a roster spot is anything but certain, such as Benny Snell. However, the Steelers will have a training camp, unlike others in recent years, where a lot is up for grabs, such as the starting quarterback position, offensive line spots, and other positions on the defense.
Thus here are the predictions of who makes the Steelers 53-man roster.
Quarterbacks (3)
Mitchell Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, Chris Oladokun
The Steelers have four quarterbacks headed into camp, as Kevin Colbert said they would. But they will not keep all four; one of the quarterbacks will be the odd man out.
The big question is what happens to Mason Rudolph. At this juncture, his fate is the most uncertain. Rumors have the Steelers trading him if there are early pre-season quarterback injuries. He does have guaranteed money heading his way, but only $1million is not enough to force the Steelers to keep Rudolph.
There is only one scenario possible in which Rudolph stays on as a third-string, and that would be if the Steelers demote Chris Oladokun to the practice squad. However, it seems unlikely; everyone just has that feeling Mason Rudolph is gone after training camp.
