Steelers top-3 fantasy football options following the draft
In terms of total points, Freiermuth probably won’t be top 3 on the Steelers
Before I talk about ‘Muth’ I must mention that year after year the one position I see a lot of teams lose out on in fantasy is the tight end position. If you look at the championship-winning teams in most fantasy leagues they were able to get a top 3 or top 5 tight end without having to reach for one at the expense of running backs or wide receivers in the first 4 rounds.
That is where Pat Freiermuth comes in. With his ADP sitting at 90 you should be able to grab him in most leagues in the 6th or 7th round and he will offer elite upside in his sophomore season. That is particularly true if Kenny Pickett becomes the starter. Pickett loved to dice teams up between the numbers in his college career and Freiermuth is going to be their best weapon in the middle of the field.
Getting Muth 5-7 or targets a game should be very doable. Furthermore, his upside in the red zone is paramount in his value. If #88 gets a good amount of red zone targets he has the potential to be a top 5 fantasy option in his position in 2022. Nabbing that in the 6th or 7th round will be an incredible value.
