Eric Fisher would be a cheap veteran option for the Steelers

Getting some quality depth for a team normally comes late in the offseason or early into the pre-season process. It is normally a waiting game both for the free agent and the club that would like to sign a player at a reasonable rate. The Steelers should have interest in this player if they can get him on a prove-it kind of contract.

Melvin Ingram was a late addition to this club last year and it seems like they could be bargain hunting yet again. There are still too many holes across this roster to accept the idea that it is complete. The talent acquisition staff will be hard at work between now and the final cut-down day to get this roster better.

Eric Fisher should be at least one of the veteran options that the black and gold call routinely. He should not cost a whole bunch as his career seems to be starting to wind down some. He is entering season ten and seems like he could be looking for his last shot to keep a starting job in the NFL.

The days of him becoming a Pro Bowl level tackle are gone, but he could provide a lot of other things to a depth chart. Pittsburgh needs depth and someone that has starting experience available if one of their starters gets injured. Fisher would provide that on a cheap contract that would only last a season.
