3 biggest changes for Steelers entering a new era in 2022
Everyone has talked about the change in the name of the stadium
The facilities and architecture likely won’t change much if at all. However, it is somewhat storybook that when the best quarterback in Steelers history retired the name of the stadium changed. The last player to throw a touchdown in Heinz Field was Ben Roethlisberger. Never again will we see giant ketchup bottles pour onto the screen while in the RedZone. This was Roethlisberger’s stadium and he should rightfully be known as the best quarterback to ever make his home at “Heinz Field”.
2022 will be very different for fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Schemes and play calls will change. The personnel on the field already has. The name of the stadium is now Acrisure stadium. It’s really the perfect exclamation point on the end of one of the most entertaining eras in all of sports. That being Ben Roethlisberger’s era.
It was one in which the black and gold almost formed their second dynasty as a franchise. It was one in which we saw defenses loaded with Hall of Famers terrorize the likes of Carson Palmer and Joe Flacco for years. One in which James Harrison probably funded a vacation or two for Roger Goodell.
The Killer B’s were the best combination of Wide Receiver, Quarterback, Running Back, and Kicker in the NFL. We saw TJ Watt nearly break the all-time sack record in Heinz Field. James Conner beat cancer while playing at Pitt then started his NFL career in Heinz Field. This truly does symbolize the end of an era, one which made yours truly fall in love with the game of football.
