Pittsburgh Steelers pre-training camp 53-man roster prediction
By Tommy Jaggi
Offensive line (8):
James Daniels, Dan Moore Jr., Chukwuma Okorafor, Mason Cole, Kevin Dotson, Kendrick Green, Joe Haeg, J.C. Hassenauer
While the offensive line could use as much help as it could get, this is one position I wouldn’t mind the Steelers skimping on this year — primarily because there’s nothing special at all about their backups.
Pittsburgh starting offensive line seems relatively easy to predict at the moment. From left to right, I think the starting unit will include Dan Moore, Kevin Dotson, Mason Cole, James Daniels, and Chukwuma Okorafor.
This group isn’t relatively strong but it’s projected to be the youngest in the league. Daniels was my favorite free agent signing this year and I think he will prove to be a solid addition to the offensive line. I wasn’t crazy about the decision to pay Mason Cole, but he should be an upgrade at center over Kendrick Green last season.
If the Steelers keep eight offensive linemen this year, I think that Kendrick Green, Joe Haeg, and J.C. Hassenauer become the backups. Pittsburgh is apparently trying to transition Green to guard, while Haeg will serve as the swing tackle and Hassenaur can be the center if Cole goes down. This would make John Leglue the odd man out.
