The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. Here are the best bets you can make for this AFC matchup.
Regardless of whether or not you believe the Pittsburgh Steelers will have a chance to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the season this week, there is certainly plenty of incentive to tune into this matchup on the road against the Buffalo Bills. Mike Tomlin has decided that it’s time to begin a new era with quarterback Kenny Pickett, and fans will want to see what he can bring to the table with his youth and energy.
While I don’t expect this to be a back-and-forth shootout that will have the NFL media talking about the Steelers as contenders, there are some bets that can make this Week 5 game much more meaningful. Here are the best bets you can make for Steelers vs Bills on Sunday:
Best Steelers Bets Week 5
Pat Freiermuth anytime TD scorer (+340)
With the switch to Kenny Pickett at quarterback, Pat Freiermuth’s stock should go up. In the second half after Pickett entered the game, Freiermuth saw four targets and made some big plays down the seam. One reception came just two yards short of the goal line.
Freiermuth has taken another step forward in his second season and he should be targeted often — especially in paydirt. He has multiple endzone targets this year and earned 9 looks against the Jets in Week 4. At +340 odds, via Fanduel Sportsbook, we really like this Freiermuth as an anytime touchdown scorer against the Bills this week.
OVER 46.5 points scored (-106)
Nearly every week so far this season, we have taken the under for Steelers games. However, we feel really confident about the over this week. The Steelers do not have T.J. Watt to get any sort of consistent pressure on Josh Allen, and they will be without their top boundary cornerback in Ahkello Witherspoon.
As the Bills rack up the points, Pittsburgh could have an easier time moving the ball through the air, and they could even score a few garbage touchdowns late in the game if things get out of hand. We don’t think there should be an issue with these two teams combining for at least 47 points this week.
Steelers to cover the 14-point spread (-110)
Mike Tomlin’s team faces the biggest spread of his professional career as a head coach, and there’s good reason for it. This matchup simply isn’t good for Pittsburgh at all. However, we do like the Steelers at +14 this week. Kenny Pickett could offer a spark that could keep this game within two touchdowns.
Additionally, if the Bills get a big lead, they may not be worried about Pittsburgh’s offense making a late surge. We have Buffalo winning 31-20, but Tomlin’s team covers the massive 14-point spread this week.
