3 Best Prop Bets for Steelers vs Buccaneers in Week 6
By Tommy Jaggi
The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to avoid a 1-5 start against the Buccaneers. Here are the best prop bets you can make for this pivotal matchup.
Talk about a tough start to begin your career as an NFL quarterback. After making his first start on the road against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Kenny Pickett will try to fend off Tom Brady for his first career win this week at home. Like Buffalo, Tampa Bay has an excellent defense, and putting up points this week won’t be easy.
Mike Tomlin’s team has yet to top 20 offensive points in a contest in his first six games this year, and he’s hoping that changes this week. Pittsburgh will look for a spark from a pair of promising rookies in Pickett and potential top receiving option, George Pickens.
While there is some promise here with the youth on this team, they are in no position to be real competitors at this point. The Steelers are 8.5-point home underdogs this week for a reason, and stealing a win won’t be easy. To ensure that this game has meaning throughout, here are the best bets we like for Steelers vs Buccaneers in Week 6:
Mike Evans Anytime TD Scorer Prop Bet (+100)
Pittsburgh’s pass defense has been atrocious over the past few weeks, and Josh Allen recently lit this secondary up for 424 yards and 3 touchdowns before exiting the game in the fourth quarter with a massive lead. Tom Brady doesn’t have that type of firepower anymore, but you can be sure that he will look to his best receiver often. Mike Evans has 18 targets and 2 touchdowns over the past two games and Brady has passed the ball 104 times during that span, via Pro Football reference. We love Evans as an anytime touchdown scorer at +100 odds, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Kenny Pickett OVER 236.5 passing yards Prop Bet (-115)
The Buccaneers have a great pass defense — allowing just 193.4 yards per game, according to Team Rankings. However, Buffalo’s pass defense was allowing just 150 yards per contest prior to Kenny Pickett putting up 327 yards on 52 attempts last week. The Steelers will likely be trailing often in this game, and it’s a safe bet that the rookie will have to air it out often again on Sunday. Even with an unspectacular payout (-115), we still think this is a pretty safe bet.
George Pickens Anytime TD Scorer Prop Bet (+290)
If you want to go for a bigger upside bet this week, we really like George Pickens as an anytime TD scorer at +290 odds. Pickens has caught fire these past two weeks — turning 16 targets into 12 receptions for 185 yards. Though no Steelers receiver has caught a touchdown yet this year, that will soon change with Pickett at the helm. Pickens seems to be his favorite receiver and these two have found a strong connection early. I think he could cash in this week.
