Najee Harris is one of the least-efficient NFL running backs

It pains me to be so right about Najee Harris when the Steelers drafted him. We all know that a running back can typically only be as good as the situation, scheme, and offensive line, and that has been the case with Harris. However, it’s getting to the point where we can’t just blame these factors anymore.

Though Harris has had a few good games this season, his overall performance leaves a lot to be desired. According to advanced statistics from both Football Outsiders and PlayerProfiler.com, Harris has been among the least efficient running backs in the NFL this season. Considering the elite draft capital that was spent on him in the 2021 NFL Draft, this is not what we wanted to see.

Najee has been a very tough runner at times, but that will only get him so far. He just doesn’t have that extra gear that top running backs around the league have, and he’s hardly a threat to take the ball to the house if there’s a crease.

Harris is still less than halfway through his rookie contract with the Steelers and it’s possible he could turn things around, but it’s hard for fans to be satisfied by what we’ve seen from him for most of the 2022 season.
