The first week of NFL free agency has come and gone, and now teams will be looking for cheaper options to bring in and help their teams win games. The Pittsburgh Steelers still have some needs to address in free agency, such as cornerback, edge rusher, and wide receiver.

Which of those positions could they likely get for a more affordable price? Let's look at some options.

These 3 cheap free agents could quietly fix the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster

Cam Taylor-Britt

The Steelers could use help in their secondary, and while Cam Taylor-Britt isn't the best possible option available, he does have potential and could be had on an affordable deal. Spotrac has given Taylor-Britt a market value of $9.2 million per year, which isn't bad. PFF gave him an overall grade of 57.6 last year.

Steelers fans know Taylor-Britt well, given that he spent the first four years of his career in Cincinnati with the Bengals after they spent a second-round pick on him. The Nebraska product showed flashes of potential during his time in Cincinnati, but he did like to run his mouth a lot, which could be why he's still available in free agency.

If the Steelers think this could be a good match, however, Taylor-Britt is someone potentially worth taking a flier on.

Michael Danna

With T.J. Watt getting older, the Steelers need to add help at the edge rusher spot. Michael Danna probably isn't the most well-known name, but he was part of two Super Bowl-winning squads with the Chiefs and, in 2023, had a career-high 6.5 sacks.

It's worth noting that since then, Danna has combined for just 4.5 sacks in two seasons, but he'd be an affordable player capable of putting up decent numbers. Spotrac has Danna's market value at $4.9 million annually, which is a bargain. He's not going to be anywhere close to Watt's production level, but there's potential to unlock here for sure.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The Steelers had Marquez Valdes-Scantling on their roster for a bit last season, and he had 10 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in five games. The only reason re-signing MVS would make sense for the Steelers this offseason is if Aaron Rodgers plans to return to Pittsburgh for another year.

The Steelers need help at receiver and, if Rodgers returns, bringing back a weapon he's familiar with makes sense. Valdes-Scantling would be an inexpensive option (Spotrac's market value for him is $1.3 million annually) and has chemistry with Rodgers, making this an easy option.
