With it being Christmas time, it seems like almost everyone wants to find a specific present under the tree. No matter if it's a new Steelers jersey or something that will make their holiday that much better. Fans of the black and gold will be ready for their seemingly underdog battle against the Chiefs, but they will also hope for some Christmas miracles this offseason.
Christmas time brings a new sense of the year coming to a close. The NFL's new calendar year might not start until March, but teams around the league will be starting to look forward to the future soon. Free agency is a big part of the new league calendar kicking off. While Pittsburgh has some major pending free agents of their own, there are other free agents from around the NFL they'd love to sign.
Tee Higgins, Bengals Wide receiver
Pittsburgh has been doing its best to upgrade their second receiver spot, so they might be interested in Tee Higgins. He will be one of the better free agents at his position, but his youth is something the black and gold will love. George Pickens will likely be looking for an extension this offseason, so that could always put a damper on any big-money receiver they wish to target.
Asante Samuel Jr., Chargers Cornerback
With Donte Jackson having a terrific season, he might be one and done with the Steelers if he makes it to free agency. Asante Samuel Jr. could be a young cornerback that Pittsburgh expresses interest in. He would cost a pretty penny, but this late Christmas gift would certainly excite fans. They showed a lot of pre-draft interest in Samuel, plus his NFL bloodlines will only increase their interest.
Chris Godwin, Buccaneers Wide receiver
He might not be as young as Higgins, but Chris Godwin would be another significant signing by the Steelers in free agency. They also showed a ton of pre-draft interest in him, and he has gone on to have a terrific NFL career. Injuries have become a concern for Godwin, so that could be a big reason why the Buccaneers move on. He would be a significant upgrade to play with Pickens.

Jarran Reed, Seahawks Defensive lineman
The black and gold have been trying to find a solution to get younger on the defensive line for some time now. Jarran Reed might not be the fix when it comes to the trenches getting younger, but he would be an upgrade over Larry Ogunjobi. Reed has a solid overall game, but he has shown the ability to produce quality numbers when it comes to rushing the passer throughout his career.
Aaron Jones, Vikings Running back
It seems better for the Steelers to replace Najee Harris through the draft rather than free agency. If they want to sign a free agent, then Aaron Jones would be a wise choice. The veteran running back is familiar with the style of play Pittsburgh deploys. He is also normalized to the two-back system, which he would be playing with Jaylen Warren still in the fold. Jones would be a nice addition to the offense.
Chase Young, Saints EDGE
Unless something significant changes, it is unlikely the Steelers will hold onto Preston Smith because of his cap hit. They need a solid fourth outside linebacker on their team and someone like Chase Young could be perfect. He has not produced well since signing a one-year deal with the Saints. Mike Tomlin has openly talked about Young as a great player in the past, so he could always help him rebound his career.
Jameis Winston, Browns Quarterback
It is unlikely that both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson will return to Pittsburgh next season. That means the Steelers could be in the market for a quarterback or two come the offseason. Jameis Winston has been rumored to the black and gold a couple of times throughout his career. It seems like Wilson will be re-signed after the season concludes, but Winston would be a fun backup to have.
