Steelers could go on massive spending spree with 6 free agents in 2025
Pittsburgh might have a comfortable record when it comes to their chances of making the playoffs this season. That doesn't mean that they are guaranteed a spot, and it could eventually lead to move change this offseason. Free agency is always an exciting time around the NFL, but it has gotten better since the Steelers have gotten more active with Omar Khan as the General manager.
According to Over the Cap's website, the Steelers are on track to have nearly $54 million to spend this offseason. A lot of that will be eaten by Russell Wilson's likely extension with the Steelers. Despite that, the organization is in a good spot financially and could open more spending change by making a few roster cuts and other contract restructures to sign some free agents.
Steelers free agent targets could add much-needed help
Jameis Winston, QB, Cleveland Browns
Might not be the splash everyone would be hoping for to open free agency, but the Steelers know Jameis Winston fairly well. He just upset them on Thursday Night Football in Week 12. Maybe that could be enough for Pittsburgh to sign him to back up Wilson next season. With Justin Fields and Kyle Allen's future with the Steelers in question, Winston would be a terrific backup option.
Chase Young, EDGE, New Orleans Saints
We know Mike Tomlin has been openly enthusiastic about Chase Young earlier in his career, but it has dipped some recently. The black and gold love to bring in former first-round picks who have been struggling in the NFL as a reclamation project. They have a strong top three group at outside linebacker, but adding someone like Young could provide perfect depth for their edge rushing unit.

Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos
With Najee Harris likely leaving Pittsburgh after this season, they will need to find a partner for Jaylen Warren. Javonte Williams is someone the Steelers showed a ton of pre-draft interest in when he was coming out of college. He is more of a balanced back than Harris was. He provides some power, but he is an effective catcher out of the backfield. Williams and Warren could be a nice one-two punch.
James Hudson III, OT, Cleveland Browns
Going into the season everyone thought depth at offensive tackle would be the least of the Steeler's worries. Well, they lost Troy Fautanu, Broderick Jones has mostly been terrible, and Dan Moore Jr. is a pending free agent. James Hudson III has mostly been a backup for the Browns, but the Steelers showed a lot of pre-draft interest. He could be a swing tackle who might have development left in the tank.
Paulson Adebo, CB, New Orleans Saints
We will see how Paulson Adebo's recovery goes since suffering a broken femur back in Week 7 of the season. He had surgery and should be able to make a full recovery. Adebo was playing quality football before he sustained his injury. His youth and experience of starting games should make him an intriguing option for the Steelers. He could even come at a cheaper rate since he wasn't able to play a full schedule.
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Here is the player that could turn the Steeler's tide around in free agency. Chris Godwin makes a lot of sense not only for the black and gold but many teams around the NFL. He would be a great compliment to George Pickens. It would be foolish for Tampa Bay to allow Godwin to get anywhere near free agency. Pittsburgh showed pre-draft interest in him, and they could again if he becomes a free agent.
