The offseason is prime time for good, clean rival content, and that's exactly what former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger decided to help us out with recently.
On a podcast episode, Roethlisberger was seen chatting about football culture and, when discussing a tough, gritty culture, he decided to throw a shot at one of his former bitter rivals. Of course, it had to be the Cleveland Browns.
"It'd be hard to fit into Cleveland because ... I win," Roethlisberger said as he cracked a smile.
"I'm sorry, just joking," he went clarified.
But, we're convinced ... he wasn't joking.
Ben Roethlisberger has every right to throw all the shade at the Cleveland Browns
Looking back at Roethlisberger's illustrious career with the Steelers and buried beneath his two Super Bowl wins and six Pro Bowls, and a future Hall of Fame nod, is an unbelievable record against his rival over in Cleveland.
During his time in the league, Roethlisberger went owned a ridiculous record of 26-2-1 agains the Browns.
This record also includes the fact that he never lost at home to Cleveland. He won all 14 games against the Browns when in Pittsburgh.
Looking at the state of the AFC North today, Roethlisberger's right to smack talk the Browns remains heavily intact. Cleveland, of course, has been the butt of several jokes over the past couple of years as they swung and missed terribly on the Deshaun Watson trade.
They let Baker Mayfield go and ultimately become a franchise quarterback elsewhere.
Now, the Browns have a convoluted quarterback room with no franchise passer in sight.
Meanwhile, the Steelers at least have a plan for the coming season with Aaron Rodgers; a former peer of Roethlisberger.
When will the Browns flip the longstanding narrative against the Steelers? If all goes according to plan, it's not happening anytime soon.
