Bottom-feeder trade sellers the Steelers could target for upgrades
November 5 cannot come fast enough for Steelers fans. Most of the fan base hopes that the team can find a trade to upgrade their receiver position, while everyone else just wants the rumors to end. Pittsburgh has constantly been rumored to have interest in almost every receiver both in free agency and the trade market over the past five months. We will see if a deal gets across the finish line.
Maybe they could pull a trade out of nowhere for a star player, but that seems unlikely at the moment. Since Russell Wilson has become the starter at quarterback, every weapon on offense has seen an uptick in productivity. We will see if they are able to build off that, or if they want to find an upgrade outside of the organization. The Steelers need someone to bring in to compete in a tough AFC playoff picture.
They need to trade for a receiver and the Steelers could target a bad team
New York Jets: Mike William & Garrett Wilson
Saying what is going on with the Jets is a disaster might be an understatement. They added Davante Adams in a trade a couple of weeks ago, but they continue to lose. New York might be better off swallowing their pride and selling off a piece or two before the deadline passes. The Steelers have been long rumored to be interested in Mike Williams, but a surprise target could be Garrett Wilson.
Tennessee Titans: Calvin Ridley & Tyler Boyd
Could the Titans be willing to move Calvin Ridley after signing him to a massive contract this past free agency? It would be a tricky move that would need Tennessee to retain salary, but Ridley has not been great in his first year with the Titans. The Steelers showed plenty of interest in Tyler Boyd this past offseason, maybe they could circle back to that in a trade with Tennessee.
New York Giants: Darius Slayton & Jalin Hyatt
Darius Slayton just torched the Steelers, and it could be a nice showing to a potential trade suitor. It sounds like the Giants aren't willing to move their receivers for cheap, but that is likely them trying to play hardball in negotiations. Jalin Hyatt could be another option to come out of nowhere. He is a former third-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, who could do better in a new environment.
Carolina Panthers: Adam Thielen
They just traded Diontae Johnson to the Ravens, but the Panthers could potentially move another receiver of theirs. Adam Thielen has also been connected to Pittsburgh in rumors, and it could make sense for both parties. He is a team-first veteran player who could help lead a young receiving core. Thielen is also under contract through next season, and the Steelers are rumored to prefer a long-term option.
New Orleans Saints: Chris Olave
Thinking of a trade option that could come out of nowhere and the Saints come to mind. They started their season off hot but have fallen off rather quickly. If they are willing to sell parts off their team, then Chris Olave would be a terrific get. He remains on his rookie deal and has an option coming up. Olave has never been a superstar in the NFL, but he would pair well with George Pickens.
