The Pittsburgh Steelers found a one-of-a-kind player in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Now 15 years later, the four-time All-Pro defensive lineman is showing once again why the football world loves him... and it's not just because of his dominant performance on the field.
Following Pittsburgh's 28-15 win over Miami on Monday Night Football, Dolphins rookie left guard Jonah Savaiinaea caught up with Heyward and asked him what he needed to do to fix his game.
"Just keep your confidence! Keep mixing it up. Don't become predictable," Heyward said. "You got all the talent in the world."
Could a young player ask for better words of encouragement from greater competition?
This happened in the moments after the game ended—a game that proved to be a rough performance for Savaiinaea going head-to-head against Heyward. Savaiinaea earned just a 35.5 overall PFF grade on Monday Night Football, while Heyward gathered four pressures and a sack against the rookie.
But after beating the brakes off the young offensive lineman, Heyward was the first person to lend advice and words of encouragement.
Pittsburgh Steelers fans need to soak up every Cam Heyward moment left
There's a reason Cam Heyward was the recipient of the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He's a selfless character. In addition to founding the Heyward House—a charitable organization to empower local youth through community programs—the Steelers star has been a picture-perfect mentor.
Most of the time, this means offering tips and lending a hand to players on his own team. But after Monday Night Football, it was about helping an AFC opponent in need of a lift.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have just three games remaining in the 2025 regular season (and we hope that this is followed by a playoff berth). However, we're all aware of the stage Heyward is at in his NFL career. The long-time veteran defensive lineman will turn 37 years old shortly after the 2026 NFL Draft.
Though he has one year left on his deal, retirement isn't out of the question this coming offseason. Of course, Cam Heyward loves the game, and he's the type of player who could go on playing for several more years.
Either way, little moments like these remind Steelers fans to soak up every minute this legend has left.
