We still don't have a clue what Aaron Rodgers is going to end up doing, but the Pittsburgh Steelers appear ready, whether or not he returns.
This is nothing new for Rodgers, though. Even dating back to his time with the Green Bay Packers, he would take his sweet time during the offseason. Despite what he's said publicly, it's never been about the team. It's about him -- but that's a story for another day.
Meanwhile, the team Rodgers spent the majority of his career with is doing the most hilarious thing today.
Green Bay is hosting former Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool on a tryout basis at their rookie minicamp.
Chase Claypool might trick the Packers into thinking what Steelers fans once thought
While the Packers have been looking for answers at wide receiver since the days of Rodgers and Davante Adams, Steelers fans know all too well what Claypool really is.
No one in Pittsburgh could ever forget rookie Chase Claypool. That first season was something to behold. He looked like a future stud in this league. Claypool caught 62 passes for 873 yards and nine touchdowns.
And then, it was all down hill from there.
Claypool stayed close in terms of receptions and yards in Year 2, with 59 for 860, but caught just a pair of touchdowns.
Fast forward a very short period of time, after the Steelers fleeced the Chicago Bears in a trade for Claypool that netted them a second-round pick, and his career was essentially over. Claypool last played in 2023, where he caught four of seven targets with the Miami Dolphins.
At just 27 years old, there is no reason why Claypool's sheer athletic ability couldn't convince the Packers that he's resurrected his career. But let's be honest. He'd be showing off against guys who have never played a down in the NFL.
If Claypool showed out with the Packers against their incoming rookie class, he could find himself in another NFL training camp this summer.
And then, he'll eventually show his true colors.
Claypool was all physical ability and zero mental game. He was never one to stay grounded, just ask the Minnesota Vikings.
If Claypool fooled the Packers into thinking he had plenty more in the tank, good for him. But it is only a matter of time before Green Bay finds out what Steelers fans knew all along.
