Arthur Smith's offense is in a desperate search for an elite playmaker. In my opinion, the Pittsburgh Steelers should look no further than wide receiver Chris Godwin as the best free-agent option to help shape their future. He hails from the Tri-State area and has deep roots in the region.
Godwin enjoyed a standout career at the University of Pennsylvania and set numerous records in high school in Middletown, Delaware. I can personally vouch for Godwin’s work ethic and dedication. They were evident during his high school days.
His drive and commitment to improvement have translated into a successful NFL career.
Over his eight-season career, Godwin has accumulated 7,266 receiving yards and 39 touchdowns, solidifying himself as one of the more consistent and reliable wide receivers in the NFL. In 2024, he was on pace for a career year, with impressive numbers that would have elevated his status even further.
Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a dislocated left ankle injury—a serious setback that could raise red flags for many NFL front offices.

While a severe injury warrants caution, the Steelers, desperate for a change at the wide receiver position, might view Godwin as a unique opportunity.
