Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown finds himself at the center of another sketchy off-field situation. This time, the allegations are as serious as ever. According to multiple outlets, including ESPN, Brown is facing an incredibly serious issue of what he's being accused of.
Brown is being sought by Miami-Dade County police on a charge of attempted murder, according to a warrant reviewed by the Washington Post. This charge stems from Brown reportedly being involved in a shooting during an appearance at a celebrity boxing event in Miami that occurred in May.
The Washington Post reports that an unnamed victim informed the police and claimed that Brown open fired at him after a scuffle, and police are moving forward with the case.
Brown could even be spotted in a video from the boxing event, fighting with several people before the gunfire rang out. The ex-Steelers receiver and NFL All-Pro is being accused of attempted murder with a firearm while also being instructed to post a $10,000 bond and remain under house arrest until his trial. If found guilty, Brown could be looking at a lengthy prison sentence.
Antonio Brown tells his side of the story after warrant for attempted murder charges
Antonio Brown did not have a gun on him at the time he was detained by the police. The warrant states that Brown was the shooter, and two shells were found at the scene. But Brown is pleading his case.
"I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me," he wrote, according to ESPN. "Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me."
This is hardly the first time Brown has had run-ins with the law. In 2020, the former NFL wide receiver had felony charges levied against him for burglary and conveyance. Brown has also dealt with misdemeanors concerning battery and mischief.
Brown also has been in the news for the wrong reasons when he refused to pay his Arena League players, who filed a class-action lawsuit against him. Other run-ins with the law for Brown stem from sexual assault accusations, domestic disputes, failure to pay child support, and public indecency.
