The Pittsburgh Steelers are locked in a battle with the New York Jets as we speak, and Aaron Rodgers' debut in Black and Gold has already gotten off to a hot start. The Steelers had a few hiccups on offense to start the game, but Rodgers calmly led them down the field for his first touchdown in his new city.

That touchdown wasn't just a good sign of things to come; it was something Steelers fans haven't seen in over a year. Pittsburgh failed to score an opening drive touchdown all of last season, a great example of just how slow this offense consistently started with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson starting last year.

Now that the offense has broken that streak, all eyes are on how Rodgers' will look the rest of the day as he tries to exact revenge on his former employer.

Aaron Rodgers' opening drive touchdown may be a sign of things to come for Pittsburgh Steelers

Rodgers has already shown more ability to command the offense than any Steelers quarterback in recent memory, making audibles at the line and pushing the right buttons to get the ball to playmakers in space.

It was also good to see Rodgers take advantage of play action on the touchdown to Ben Skowronek, a staple of Arthur Smith's offense. There were fair questions about how those two would mesh with each other, but so far, so good.

We will see if the former MVP can continue to move the offense down the field, and early returns of the Steelers' defense could make it a necessity to keep the scoring onslaught going. The run game has yet to get going as well, something that Smith will not be happy about if that doesn't change.

Overall, it's a good start for the Rodgers era in Pittsburgh. If the Steelers can come away with a win thanks to the offense for a change, maybe things can be different this year as they chase their first playoff win in nearly a decade.
