It only took one drive to see why the Steelers signed Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers score the first points of their season thanks to a sharp drive from Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers' offense.

The Steelers have a tough test to open up the 2025 NFL Season, as they face the stout New York Jets' defense in MetLife Stadium. The main theme of this game is obviously the QB situation, as Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields were on opposite teams in 2024.

Well, it's already been a back-and-forth affair, but it took the Pittsburgh Steelers just one offensive drive to see why they decided to sign Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers hit WR Ben Skowronek for the first touchdown of the season

Rodgers hit Skowronek for a touchdown pass, getting the Pittsburgh Steelers on the board. On the drive, Aaron Rodgers went 4/5 for 62 yards and a touchdown. It was a pretty surgical drive from the 41-year-old Rodgers, who is surely in his final season in the NFL:

Sure, it's just one drive, but it was nice to see the Steelers' offense operating efficiently in a tough place to play. There has been a ton of change hitting the Steelers this offseason, as the offense features a metric-ton of new players. Najee Harris, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and George Pickens are all now on different teams.

It's now guys like Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, and Jonnu Smith running the show. Pittsburgh being able to close this game out and get a win in Week 1 would be an ideal start, as you get the sense that all this change hitting the team gives them a much smaller margin for error.

The Jets did answer with a touchdown drive of their own, but the Steelers' defense should buck-up a bit as the game goes on, and the overall experience of Pittsburgh should tip the game in their favor.
