The Pittsburgh Steelers left Week 11 with a dominant 34-12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but the game got a little testy as two of the team’s biggest stars got into an altercation. Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey and Bengals receiver Ja‘Marr Chase had an altercation, and Ramsey was ultimately ejected for throwing a punch.
After the game, the star defender revealed that his punch was in response to Chase spitting on him. The veteran receiver denied spitting on Ramsey, leaving fans and media members to wonder who was lying. It didn’t take long to get an answer to that question, as additional footage was released, showing that Chase did actually spit on Ramsey before the defensive back grabbed his helmet.

It’s hard to lie about what happened on an NFL field, because the league has so many cameras and microphones documenting everything. While lying may help players temporarily get away with things, the truth will usually come to light. It certainly has this time, and Chase will surely have to face some consequences.
An NFL spokesperson has already said the league will be reviewing the incident between Ramsey and Chase, and considering the footage that has now emerged, it’s likely Chase will be penalized. Unfortunately, the league has dealt with a player spitting on an opponent before, most notably when Philadelphia Eagles defender Jalen Carter spat on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 1 of this season. The penalty for Carter was a one-game suspension, which he served after being ejected before the first snap of the Week 1 game.
Chase wasn’t ejected in Week 11 for his actions, as the referees admitted to not seeing the receiver spit on Ramsey. Since the league has the ability to review the entire situation, from multiple angles, Ramsey will likely be vindicated, and Chase will have to miss time.
Fortunately, Ramsey’s absence didn’t hurt Pittsburgh, as the Steelers were still able to emerge victorious with a dominant victory. They now move to 6-4, while the Bengals fall to 3-7.
