NFL analyst's wild schedule prediction is ammunition for Steelers in 2025

This was a cheap shot not, not a realistic prediction.

NFL Fans were excited when the NFL released its 2025 regular season schedule on Wednesday night. For Pittsburgh, though, the air was thick with skepticism. This team received a brutal slate down the stretch and an early bye week. But even with these things, we know the Pittsburgh Steelers always find a way to make it work.

Even so, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky didn’t hold back. On NFL Live, Orlovsky took a jab at Mike Tomlin’s squad.

“I think you’re staring at 0-6 in the face," He stated.

Sure, it’s been a turbulent offseason for the black and gold. The team parted ways with notable names like George Pickens, Najee Harris, Justin Fields, and Russell Wilson, all without locking in surefire replacements.

The lone big swing—acquiring DK Metcalf—looked promising, but the move lost some shine when Omar Khan sent Pickens to the Cowboys earlier this month.

It’s easy to look at the current state of the roster and have doubts. It’s even easier to be critical when a franchise is in the fog of transition. But let’s be real: 0-6? That feels more like a soundbite than a prediction.

The Pittsburgh Steelers must make Dan Orlovsky eat his words with a successful 2025 season

I cannot ignore Pittsburgh's question marks, especially on the offensive side of the ball. But suggesting a winless start through six weeks? That is pessimistic and historically inaccurate.

In 17 seasons under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers have never started a season 0-6. They have never finished with a losing record. That kind of consistency deserves a bit more respect than what Orlovsky offered.

The truth is, the Steelers will not suit up for Week 1 tomorrow. There is still time and cap space for Omar Khan and the front office to make moves, address the glaring needs, and surround Metcalf with complementary talent.

This is not the final version of the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers. Just the rough draft.

If anything, this type of commentary can serve as fuel. Pittsburgh has thrived as the underdog. Gritty, overlooked, and relentless. It is part of the DNA.

So while the national media might be circling the Steelers like vultures, I will hold onto a bit of faith. No, they are not perfect right now. But writing off Mike Tomlin and this franchise before a single snap? That is a mistake we’ve seen people make before.
