As leaks continued to drop before the official schedule release, we learned of a few big surprises. The Steelers have an intriguing Week 1 matchup against former quarterback Justin Fields and the New York Jets, and their game in Dublin, Ireland, will come against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Steelers' 2025 season starts with a bang as Justin Fields gets his revenge game against Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin benched Fields entering Week 7 of the 2024 season, and the quarterback opted for greener pastures this offseason in free agency. If Aaron Rodgers signs with the Steelers, we could be looking at a double-revenge game and Week 1 chaos, with Rodgers and Fields trading threads this season.

Pittsburgh's early slate of games is manageable, as they have winnable contests against the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots in Week 2 and Week 3, respectively. This is followed by their international game in Dublin before their Week 5 bye. But that's when things will start to get tricky.

Though the Steelers will have a long week to prepare to host the Cleveland Browns, this will mark the first of 13 straight regular-season games they will play without a week off until the season concludes. The NFL really turned up the heat on the Steelers beginning in Week 13, as they will host the Buffalo Bills before being on the road against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14.

From there, the Steelers will be versus the Miami Dolphins, at the Detroit Lions, at the Cleveland Browns, and versus the Baltimore Ravens to close out the season. Four of their final six games will come against 2024 playoff teams that were considered among the best in the NFL last season.

Steelers' late-season stretch without a break will be brutal

What's most noticeable about the Steelers' 2025 schedule is their daunting stretch of games without a break. If the Steelers crack the playoffs and play in the Wild Card round, this will mark 14 straight games without a week off. And the further they could potentially advance in the playoffs will only leave them more gassed.

It's also unusual to see that the Steelers will play just four primetime games this year. Not counting their 9:30 am ET game in Dublin, Ireland, against the Vikings, the Steelers are a little light when it comes to primetime appearances.

They will play at Cincinnati on Thursday Night Football in Week 7 and host Green Bay on Sunday Night Football in Week 8. Pittsburgh will then be on the road against the Chargers for Sunday Night Football in Week 10 before their final primetime game in Week 15 at home against Miami on Monday Night Football. Pittsburgh also has no notable holiday games on the schedule this season.

This is an odd schedule all around for the Steelers, and with their bye coming in Week 5, they better pray for good health late in the season against a difficult slate of opponents.
