With the Pittsburgh Steelers still early into the 2026 season, many don't pay attention to mock drafts. That being said, this is an interesting time of the year when players will see their draft stocks rise and fall from week to week. One thing is certain: the Steelers already have some pressing needs during the early going of this season.
Those questions could only continue to rise if things fall a specific way.
As of now, the Steelers are still in an odd spot with Joey Porter Jr., but we will assume he sticks around past this season. Although he might stay with the team, there are ongoing depth questions that the franchise should address. They currently have eight draft picks in their pocket, and they should be able to make a difference with those selections. Pittsburgh got bold in this mock draft.

Steelers Mock Draft Round 1: Tae Johnson, S, Notre Dame
Not only is Jaquan Brisker on an expiring contract, but DeShon Elliott's future, due to his injury problems, is up in the air. Locating Tae Johnson at this point in the mock draft is a saving grace. He's a young and instinctual athlete who can play in the nickel and the slot. Johnson would bring a different style of safety into the mix.
Taking a safety high in the draft appears to be a road the Steelers will have no choice but to take this spring.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 2: Trinidad Chambliss, QB, Ole Miss
Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph are likely to depart the club after this season, and that shoots the quarterback position back into the forefront. Trinidad Chambliss will be one of the older gunslinger prospects to enter the draft next year, but he will also be one of the most experienced. He's worked his way up the football world, and there are some plays where you can't help but be amazed.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 3: PJ Williams, OT, SMU
Investing in the trenches is something this Steelers front office isn't afraid to do. They should consider doing that once again with PJ Williams sitting here for the taking in this mock draft. Hopefully Troy Fautanu and Max Iheanachor can show they are quality starters this season, or this need could shoot up their board. Williams can play both tackle spots and fill in at guard if necessary.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 3: Rasheem Biles, LB, Texas
Patrick Queen's future in Pittsburgh is murky at best, so don't be shocked if they either sign someone or draft a prospect high in the draft.
Payton Wilson must show that he can be the top inside linebacker this season, or it might be time to look elsewhere. Rasheem Biles is a solid value get at this point in the mock draft. Rasheem Biles jumped over to Texas after playing at Pitt. He is a do-it-all linebacker who can rush the passer and be an effective cover guy.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 5: Devan Thompkins, DT, Alabama
He is an experienced defensive tackle and should be able to use that to elevate his draft stock this season. The Steelers should always be investing in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They added Williams earlier in this mock draft, and now they go with Thompkins. He might not be consistent enough to be considered an elite prospect, but he shows flashes of brilliance.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 6: Griffin Wilde, WR, Northwestern
This is the season for Roman Wilson and Kaden Wetjen to prove they are worth sticking around; otherwise, the Steelers will draft another wide receiver. Griffin Wilde is an interesting player who will be coming out of a rebuilding program. He might not be the most athletic or speedy weapon on offense, but he's smart and dependable. Griffin should become a solid slot receiver target.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 7: Ja'son Prevard, CB, Kansas State
Again, we are assuming that Joey Porter Jr. will eventually re-sign on a long-term contract with the Steelers. If not, then the cornerback position could be a massive need come draft time. With all of that being said, the Steelers go with Ja'son Prevard out of Kansas State to battle for a roster spot. He has ideal size for the position and could be someone who makes some noise at training camp.
Steelers Mock Draft Round 7: Wendell Gregory, EDGE, Kansas State
It's nice to see Pittsburgh finally roll with three edge rushers during the early going of the season. After this year expires, they might have to decide if they are going to keep Alex Highsmith around or not. Any failure to keep him around could have them drafting an edge rusher. Wendell Gregory will be playing his first season at Kansas State this year after breaking onto the scene last year.
