The Pittsburgh Steelers needed a great start on Sunday Night Football against the Packers after a crushing loss a week ago, and they got just that.
The home team headed into the locker room sporting a 16-7 lead over the visiting NFC North-leading Packers, thanks in large part to three clutch Chris Boswell field goals. It wasn't all Boswell, though, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers led a late touchdown drive to end the first half.
He hit DK Metcalf for the score, his first of the night. It was a milestone moment for the 41-year-old passer, as it was his first ever against the team where he won four MVP trophies and a Super Bowl. As sweet as it had to feel for Rodgers, getting the win is what matters most.
Aaron Rodgers gets his first TD against the Packers, but the Pittsburgh Steelers need even more from him
It had to feel great for Rodgers to score against his former employer, but the job isn't finished.
Pittsburgh has an opportunity to get its most impressive win of the season, as the Packers came into the game as the only NFC team with just one loss. They do have a tie against the Cowboys, but the Packers have generally been a very tough team to deal with this season.
A win would not only show they can compete with the top teams in the NFL, but it would keep them firmly in first place in the AFC North. With the Ravens pulling out a win to keep their season alive this week, there is no room for losses at home when you already have a two-score lead at halftime.
The Steelers will likely need another touchdown or two from their veteran QB to pull this game out, especially with the way the second half has started. With the Steelers' defense showing its age and losing safety DeShon Elliott to injury, it could quickly turn into a track meet on a cold night in the Steel City.
Let's see if Rodgers can finish the job and join the elite club of QBs to beat every team in the NFL.
