He is a proven commodity in the NFL who could take the pressure off Germie Bernard, who needs to make plays early in his career. Wilson probably wouldn't provide that.

The Steelers could use some help at the position while Bernard figures it all out, and Slayton provides a much more proven choice than Wilson. Pittsburgh would be taking a massive gamble by hanging on to Wilson in this instance, as he might become a flop.
