DK Metcalf didn't even have to wait for the full Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 schedule to drop before learning when he would get a chance to seek revenge on his former team. Hours before the NFL Schedule Release, it was leaked that the Steelers would be hosting the Seattle Seahawks for their home opener in Week 2.
And you can bet Metcalf is already licking his chops at the opportunity to go full scorched earth on the team that was through with him.
Metcalf's name was involved in trade whispers before Seattle officially sent him packing his bags for Pittsburgh on March 9. The Seahawks gave the talented wide receiver a three-year, $72 million extension in 2022, but they decided against giving him a third contract.
The decision to trade Metcalf came despite his ability to average over 1,000 yards per season in his first six years while scoring 48 touchdowns and earning two Pro Bowls and Second-Team All-Pro honors.
Now, Metcalf's revenge will come swiftly as the Steelers will host the Seahawks in Week 2.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will give DK Metcalf the perfect stage to pulverize the Seattle Seahawks
We still don't know with absolute certainty who will be under center when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Seattle Seahawks for their Week 2 home opener. But what we do know is that DK Metcalf will be in a position to succeed against his former team.
After trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, Metcalf is the indisputable WR1 in Pittsburgh, and he's going to get more than enough opportunities to shine in his first regular-season game at Acrisure Stadium. Whether it's Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph slinging the pigskin, Metcalf is likely to see double-digit targets as the team's top weapon, including a few deep balls that could remind the Seahawks of his innate ability to box out defenders and win down the field.
The Seahawks will also be forced to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast for this contest, and Metcalf will gladly take advantage of any jet lag Seattle's cornerbacks are still feeling in this game.
Around the league, we see big performances often when star players get to go up against their former teams. DK Metcalf has every reason to ball out in his home debut with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Seattle Seahawks must find a way to contain him in Week 2.
