The effects of supply and demand are witnessed beyond the economy. Just take a look at the line of NFL franchises salivating to roster a high-value gunslinger via a Supplemental Draft. The buzz surrounding Brendan Sorsby is impossible to ignore. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed by Pittsburgh Steelers fans.
Because let’s be honest, a chance to draft the former Cincinnati Bearcat at a discounted price is enticing. Especially for a team without a concrete future under center.
According to College Football Insider Pete Thamel, Sorsby has a Pro Day tentatively scheduled for July 10th at Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas. It will be an opportunity for NFL teams to evaluate him before making a blind bid in the Supplemental Draft. The Steelers must be in attendance.

And Thamel agree’s 100%.
“I’d expect all 32 teams to go,” Thamel explained on The Pat McAfee Show. I agree, who would skip this bargain? The Supplemental Draft allows teams to submit blind bids using future draft picks. A fourth-round pick could land a first-round talent at QB.
It’s a tool all franchises must take advantage of, regardless of how the roster is constructed. “Everyone has skin in this,” Thamel stated.
The Pittsburgh Steelers must leave no stone unturned when evaluating Brendan Sorsby
For some, the willingness to pursue a prospect with recent off-field issues like Sorsby is insane. Why take the chance at all, right? Well, this isn’t your average quarterback. Analysts believe Sorsby has first-round quarterback talent. His size, athleticism, and arm power create the perfect leader for dynamic offenses. His mistakes of the past will be left exactly there as long as he commits to putting his best foot forward.
“The NFL is a forgiving place if you can play,” Thamel admitted. “I do think the focus will shift to what kind of player can he be?”
As of now, all we have is what the film provides. In 2025, he put up 2,800 passing yards and threw 27 touchdowns while limiting turnovers. Sorsby also ranked first in passing efficiency rating (155.1) and total yards per play (7.8) among Big 12 QBs.
There’s a lot to consider before franchises are willing to give Brendan Sorsby the green light. But I believe the Steelers have nothing to lose by seeing what the former Bearcat has in the tank. He’s a proven gunslinger with X-Factor abilities.
The biggest blemish? A lack of judgment. But is it enough for Pittsburgh to miss out on a potential franchise quarterback?
Truthfully, He may be too valuable to pass up. “Quarterbacks are the engine of a multi-billion dollar business,” Thamel confessed. Currently, the Steelers are close to filing for QB bankruptcy.
Pittsburgh has never drafted a collegiate prospect during a Supplementary Draft. But I believe Brenden Sorsby is worth considering. Aaron Rodgers announced publicly that this season will be his last. And sure, Will Howard and Drew Allar are on the fast track to becoming franchise leaders under their seasoned mentor.
But what if Omar Khan can equip a better QB for a discounted price? It will force Pittsburgh to make adjustments. But with three quarterbacks freshly motivated and youthful, the future looks bright.
