After the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Derrick Harmon with their top pick in the NFL Draft, many thought that was the end of that story. It's not uncommon for Pittsburgh to double-dip in the trenches like last year on the offensive line with Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick. Don't be shocked if Steelers general manager Omar Khan takes another defensive tackle.

Harmon was a nice pick, and there could be more help. With varying prospects of interest from the Steelers, they could find another big guy up front to help the team. If they take a defensive lineman between rounds four through seven, they should add another player to their arsenal. The Philadelphia Eagles showed that you can never have enough depth in the trenches.

Desmond Watson from Florida makes sense for the Steelers because he's a boulder on defense.

He stands at 6'5 and weighs an astonishing 464 pounds. He has become a meme since hitting the field for the Florida Gators. It's impossible not to marvel at the massive prospect he is. He might not be a top prospect in this draft, but he could become a quality player for Mike Tomlin.

Pittsburgh Steelers should add Desmond Watson with late pick in NFL Draft

Taking Harmon earlier in the draft allows the Steelers to have some flexibility up front. Cam Heyward and Keeanu Benton can rotate with Harmon at various plays. There is some depth behind those starters, but none that are thrilling. DeMarvin Leal, Daniel Ekuale, and Dean Lowry are a few depth pieces in the trenches. Those names should not be comfortable with their job security.

Khan should be willing to spend another draft pick on another defensive tackle to push some veteran depth guys for their jobs. Watson's massive concern has been his lack of conditioning. He has never been a routine three-down big guy. That is one of the many reasons this enticing monster in the middle will last until the final rounds of the NFL Draft. He must get better in the NFL.

Tomlin said nose tackles are a dying breed in today's NFL.

We will see if that theory follows their actions with Watson as a possible option for Pittsburgh. He would be best as a role-playing nose tackle for his next team. Watson has proven adequate when taking on double teams at Florida, but he has not been able to become a dynamic piece because of his weight concerns.

Watson has been outspoken about his battle with his weight issues. He hasn't been able to shed weight and become a star player at the college level. Watson could get better resources to develop into a reliable defensive lineman at the next level. He is a towering figure up front and could be worth a shot in the dark late in the NFL Draft.
