After two weeks of NFL action, it's clear that the Pittsburgh Steelers are having trouble on offense. Just saying they are having trouble is a nice way to put it. In reality, they are one of the worst groups in the NFL. After only scoring 16 points through two games of the young season, many in Pittsburgh are starting to worry that this could be one of the worst offenses the team has ever seen.

You can blame many players on the roster for the Steelers early season struggles on offense. It all comes back to their offensive line sputtering, namely the right side of the group. Dylan Cook's issues are surprising because of how well he played to end last season. Perhaps it's time that Max Iheanachor takes the starting spot; he provides potential and room to grow as he starts.

One of the main issues plaguing the group is the offensive line play.

Many assumed that this unit would perform well together, but with different players playing new positions and two new guys in the trenches this season, things haven't gone to plan. Most of them look discombobulated, and it's had a trickle-down effect. The poor play in the trenches has led to poor quarterback play, missed opportunities in the pass game, and an almost nonexistent rushing attack.

Pittsburgh Steelers could help save their offensive line's season by starting Max Iheanachor

Although it appeared like a safe bet that Dylan Cook would be a dependable right tackle for the Steelers, that logic has backfired. He might not be the worst right tackle in the NFL, but he certainly isn't great either. He remains on the chopping block when it comes to his starting spot being up for grabs.

Pittsburgh might have no other choice but to start Max Iheanachor as soon as possible.

After a strong start to training camp practices, many assumed that Iheanachor would put immediate pressure on Cook's starting gig. Unfortunately for the first-round pick, he suffered an injury setback soon after the hype train started to build this summer. That led to him missing his opportunity to truly yank the starting job from Cook's hands. The right tackle situation was solved through circumstance.

It would have been great if Cook had done a better job to start the season, as it would've taken pressure off of Iheanachor to start too early in his career. With that being said, the Steelers are in a dire situation. Cook has allowed one sack and five pressures through two weeks of the campaign, according to Pro Football Focus($). That is abysmal and something that should get the coaches in Pittsburgh into some tough conversations.

Starting Max Iheanachor might not be ideal, but the rookie has to get going at some point. He isn't going to learn much on the bench, and at least he can grow into his role as the season progresses. Iheanachor has been impressive during the short spurts of him hitting the field. The Steelers should trust in the process, start Iheanachor, and hopefully see him turn into a franchise-level tackle.
