After rebuilding the wide receiver group this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers may be finished making additions at the position. The team already traded for Michael Pittman Jr. and brought in several rookies, leaving limited room for another player. That said, the door is not completely closed.

Pittsburgh could still explore the free agent market, and Pittman has already begun recruiting another veteran to join the roster.

In a new Instagram post revealing his Steelers practice uniform for the first time, Michael Pittman Jr. drew attention from a familiar face. Former Pittsburgh star wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster left a comment, giving Pittman the perfect opening to begin recruiting. He quickly responded to Smith-Schuster with an intriguing response.

"When you coming home OG," Pittman replied.

All of this could be nothing more than an innocent interaction between two NFL playmakers on social media, but it also has the potential to grow into something more. It is somewhat surprising that Smith-Schuster remains unsigned at this point. He is still a free agent and able to join any team, and Pittman could be making an early push to bring the former Steelers star back to Pittsburgh.

Bringing JuJu Smith-Schuster back to Pittsburgh does not make much sense right now. If there were strong interest around the league, he likely would have already signed with a team. A reunion seems unlikely, even if Pittman would welcome the idea.

There simply is not enough room on the roster at the moment, although that could change as the offseason progresses.

Throughout the preseason, injuries are always a possibility. If a wide receiver were to go down, the Steelers should keep communication lines open with Smith-Schuster as a potential fallback option. With the position group already crowded, there is little room to add a veteran like him, and the organization hopes that remains the case.

Since leaving Pittsburgh, the former young star has not found the same level of success in the NFL. He has not matched the production he delivered during his time with the Steelers. Regardless of how the rest of his career unfolds, Steelers fans have continued to support him. A reunion would be welcomed by many, but bringing the free agent back into the mix could be complicated.

If the Steelers were to sign JuJu, he could take valuable snaps and, more importantly, a roster spot from another player.

As it stands, DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr., Germie Bernard, Kaden Wetjen, Roman Wilson, and Ben Skowronek all appear likely to make the final roster. Adding Smith-Schuster to the group would likely put either Wilson or Skowronek at risk of being among the final cuts.
