As the NFL Combine kicks off this week, most of the NFL world will pay close attention. It's a time when people can see their draft stocks alter course based on their workouts. The event is often overblown, as working out in shorts at the combine does not fully determine the outcome of their professional careers. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be scoping out the talent in Indianapolis.

Players banking on quality times at the combine could hinder those who cannot participate. They are either recovering from an injury or choosing not to participate for personal reasons. Those who do not suit up for the outing could witness their draft stock tumble.

That could open the door for the Steelers, especially when it comes to some of their top draft targets who are currently out of range in the first round.

According to Dane Brugler of The Athletic, top receiver prospect Jordyn Tyson won't be participating in workouts at the NFL Combine. While the talented playmaker shouldn't see his draft stock fall off a cliff, this certainly won't help him either. The Steelers have been closely linked to the top receiver in many mock drafts, but as of now, it would require them to trade up to get a shot at selecting him.

The Pittsburgh Steelers might witness WR Jordyn Tyson slip within range at the NFL Draft

Tyson is an explosive receiver coming out of Arizona State, but one of his biggest knocks thus far has been his injury concerns. Brugler tweeted that the Sun Devil won't be working out because he is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he suffered this past season. That could be a red flag for most teams, but Pittsburgh has shown it is willing to look past some injury concerns in past years.

When Troy Fautanu entered the NFL Draft, some clubs flagged him with an injury concern. The Steelers were thrilled to have him available at their pick, and they selected him with their first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. The organization is not afraid to take a gamble on potential injury-risked prospects, especially in higher rounds. It has paid off for them with recent draft classes.

Adding a quality receiver or two this offseason will be vital for the Steelers. Regardless of whether the answer comes in free agency, the draft, or both, the team must find a solution. They struggled without a complementary piece to DK Metcalf last season, and it hindered their offense.

Taking Tyson in the first round with their 21st overall pick is unlikely, but his missing the NFL Combine could drop his draft stock.

Don't expect him to fall to pick 21, but this isn't the best start to his pre-draft process. Tyson is a terrific player, but his injury history should raise concerns for evaluators. Pittsburgh would be willing to take the risk of trading up for this receiver if he got within reasonable striking distance in a potential trade-up scenario.

The latest news is good for the Steelers' chances of landing Jordyn Tyson.
